Nalayiradivyaprabandham is considered as tamil vedam. It isl the work of 12 Azhwars.
Periazhvar,Andal,Kulasekarar,Thirumazhisai Azhvar,thondaradipodi Azhvar,Thiruppanazhvar,Mathurakavi azhvar,ThirumangaiAzhvar,Nammazhvar,
PoigaiAzhvar,BooththAzhvar,PeyAzhvar.These twelve great saints are the authers
of this magnificent work.
Now how we got it?
Nammalcar lived 3000 years back.He is considerd incarnation ofLord vishnu Himself.
As soon as he was  born it was said that he crawled into the trunk of huge tamarind
tree and started doing penance.It was in aplace called Alwarthirunagar.Madhurakavi
is alsoanother saint who was in search of Guru.He was in the north part of India.
A divine light led him south and after great effort he was  able to find Nammalvar
in Alwarthirunagar, in the tree trunk. After great tireless effort he was able impress
Nammalwar and from Him learnt all the hymns from Him.
. Mathurakavalwar was so excilarated and sung them. He sang 11 hymns on his guru
Kanninun siruthambu. His contribution to Nalayiram are only tese 11 hymns.
After a period unfortunately all were lost. centuries later saint Nadhamuni was by
chance able to hear song of Nammalvar, the end of hymns they sang.these are
ten of the thousand sang by Maran Sadagopan. Nadhamunigal was so excited, he
 went in search of the rest.After great effort he was able to get hold of  11 songs
Kanninul siruthambu.He reapeted them12000 times and mriacle happened.
Nammalwar appeared and gave all the 4000 Hymns. Nadhamuigal compiled them in the present form. some are song in pann and some recited with rythm
